It began its activities in 2014 as a youth orchestra made up of music students from the Tokyo metropolitan area. In 2023, marking its 10th anniversary, it embarked on a new chapter as the PLANET TERRA Orchestra Project. The ensemble is formed by emerging young professionals, many of whom are associate artists, and are active both domestically and internationally.

In addition to self-produced concerts and CD album production, the orchestra also receives requests for performances from amateur groups and local governments in the Tokyo area. The orchestra performs in flexible formats, ranging from chamber music to large-scale orchestral works, and is known for its focus not only on well-known masterpieces but also on lesser-known, rarely performed pieces that are difficult to hear elsewhere.
